A weekend in Talihina

This weekend, we spent time at my parents' land in Talihina, OK. It was so, so hot- we went to Lake Sardis to cool off, where we found a great sandy beach!
My dad has a love for adventure sports and his most recent venture is para-gliding, which consists of strapping on a harness attached to a parachute and jumping off a mountain to glide higher in the sky than even the birds! We had never seen him fly so we were entertained (and a little scared!) by watching how high he can get.
Atop Buffalo Mountain overlooking the Potato Hills; this is the view from their launching pad (the landing pad is that large clear field.)

My dad, all harnessed up and ready to jump! They take this sport very seriously- lots of line checks and wind monitors.

There he goes! He makes it look so easy- but it's actually very complicated!

Keaton really enjoyed using his binoculars to
keep an eye on Pepaw and the other flyers.
My mom even flew tandem with an instructor! My dad is flying on the left and my mom is on the right. Despite the desperately sweltering heat, we loved spending time watching all the flyers and enjoying the beauty of southern Oklahoma.
